What’s up my Earthlings,
So I am sitting here in the After Dark Studio pondering what to do with my little man, aka. Little Tommy. You see, his mom is the type to wash hands or use sanitizer after touching ANYTHING. She is not afraid of dirt, but germs, that’s a different story. Anti-bacterial soap is an absolute must in our home as well. I, on the other hand, am a bit more relaxed. Now before you go crazy, I am a clean person and advocate cleanliness; it is, after all, close to godliness. I just feel that part of surviving this world is letting your body gain natural immunities through exposure. Getting a cold isn’t the end of the world. Now, I get being careful with your kids, but what is too much caution? What does hovering over your kids actually look like?
I am fascinated by the antibacterial soap phenomenon as well. In 2014, Smithsonian Magazine had an article citing the FDA that basically said not to use Antibacterial soaps. It has been suggested that we are stripping ourselves of not just harmful bacteria, but helpful as well. It’s all just too much for me. I am starting to think my grandfather had it right when he said he’d go the creek on the back of the farm to wash up before running in for supper. Maybe I should just wipe my hands on my shirt before I reach in the bucket of chicken? And what do I teach my little impressionable one? HELP EARTHLINGS?!?!!?
Time to stop thinking and get back to spinning the hits! See ya’ After Dark!
