Remembering Radio

I would like to send my condolences to the family and many friends of James Kennedy, lovingly known as Radio.  He died Sunday morning at the age of 73.  Radio was so special to Anderson and was a fixture on the sidelines of T.L. Hanna High School football games for more than 50 years, and he was even the inspiration for a Hollywood movie about his life, with Cuba Gooding Jr. playing the part of Radio. Radio’s life was truly one of friendship. Former Hanna Principal Sheila Hilton said, “Everyone who knew Radio at school has a story about him that will make you smile.”  Radio will truly be missed.  Visitation will be this Friday from 5 to 8 pm at T.L. Hanna High School on Highway 81, and his funeral services will be held on Saturday at 2pm at the Anderson Civic Center.  Rest in peace, Radio.
