Happy holiday season, Earthlings! Craig Debolt here to pass on the Santa Express info we shared on air with Steven and Cheryl Hawkins from Greenville & Western Railway.
Santa Claus will be riding the rails again on December 14, 2019 as Greenville & Western hosts its Thirteenth Annual “Santa Express.”
Santa will visit Honea Path, Belton, Cheddar, Williamston and Pelzer by train. There will be stops at each of these towns where the children will board and meet Santa.
This is a FREE event for children of all ages.
Following Santa’s arrival at each stop, little boys and girls in attendance will have an opportunity to step on board Santa’s caboose and tell Old Saint Nick exactly what they want for Christmas and receive a sweet treat… plus Santa will draw tickets at every stop to receive special gifts from his magic gift bag before the train departs.
Santa’s 2019 schedule will be:
- Honea Path - Hamby Road - Arrive 9:00 AM Depart 10:15 AM
- Belton - O’Neal Street - Arrive 10:45 AM Depart 12:15 PM
- Cheddar - Cheddar Road - Arrive 1:30 PM Depart 2:45 PM
- Williamston - Williams Street - Arrive 3:15 PM Depart 4:15 PM
- Pelzer - Lyman Street - Arrive 4:45 PM Depart 7:15 PM *
*Santa plans to stay until the last person has a chance to come through the caboose (Pelzer only).
By the way, if you’re planning to go, Greenville & Western is partnering with the Belton Interfaith Ministerial Association (“BIMA”) and the Presbyterian Food Bank of Pelzer and Williamston (“PFB”) to collect food for those in our community who may presently find themselves in a time of real need. Greenville & Western encourages those who attend this year’s event to bring a donation of one or more non-perishable food items to the train. Greenville & Western, BIMA and PFB volunteers will be staffing the Aiken Railway caboose (the caboose directly behind the locomotives) to accept your donations and thank you in advance for your generous support of both organizations’ food ministry.
Donations are not mandatory for participation, however.
